About the event

« Philosophy and medicine »

Two days led by Ariane Bilheran and Olivier Soulier

We have just been through a major political and societal crisis since 2020, which has demonstrated how sick medicine and philosophy are.

Medicine has lost its love of wisdom (itsphilosophy), renouncing theprimum non nocere, and to the Hippocratic principles (ex. : free choice of the patient).

Philosophy for its part has shown its conceptual void, with very few philosophers rising up against the major transgression of the human condition.

A few rare names cast an enlightening look, including Giorgio Agamben and Ariane Bilheran.

Doctors have betrayed medicine, and have become executors of deadly and totalitarian projects.

The philosophers have betrayed philosophy, by deserting the field of conscience, and by forgetting that  « science without conscience is only ruin of the soul_cc781905- 5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_”.

Physicians have been routinely diverted to serve totalitarian systems, which are similarly supported mostly by intellectuals, blinded by ideology.

In light of what these betrayals teach us, Ariane Bilheran and Olivier Soulier believe thatit is now up to us to rebuild everything, for the next millennium.

They will suggesta return to the Hippocratic sources of medicine and to the original fundamentals of philosophy : meaning of illness, therapeutic alliance, remedyvs poison, deontology, ethics, morals, human rights...among so many other themes that will be addressed during these two consecutive days.
