In light of the advances of transhumanist totalitarianism, the future is shaping a radical separation of humanity, the embryos of which we perceive in our present. Two sides of the same coin that turn their backs on each other and will not meet for the time being. We are at a crossroads, and plunging into one immediately excludes walking down the other. "What do we wish to serve" becomes an unavoidable metaphysical question because we are at the crossroads.
