Problem XXX is a short text, attributed by Seneca, Plutarch, and Cicero, to Aristotle on the subject of melancholy.
The subject is as follows:
"Why is it that all those who have been exceptional men, with regard to philosophy, the science of the State, poetry or the arts, are manifestly melancholic, and some even to the point of being seized by ailments whose origin is black bile, as recounted, among the stories concerning heroes, by those devoted to Heracles?"
